Kid Connect is an idea kickstarted during American Airlines’ yearly hackathon.

Every year more than 500, 000 unaccompanied minors fly with American Airlines. It’s an enormous responsibility and an opportunity to improve on a process hindered by unnecessary paperwork and challenging coordination between staff members.

The project also features an app that proposes a more engaging end-to-end experience for young travelers. The app uses AA’s platform but offers a brighter feel and simpler layout.

Parents select Kid Connect during booking and prepaid payment option that can be used at the airport or during flight.

Key features include easy access to wifi, in-flight entertainment, communication with the crew and a chatbot for general inquiries.

Kid Connect won second place. Event sponsor Mastercard loved the idea and invited the team to their offices in Dublin, Ireland to further our concept.

Kid Connect is scheduled for production in 2020.
